My Nevada/Arizona Trip

What a trip! The beginning was hectic, the middle was great and the end was frustrating!! ARRGGHHH I'm not a good traveler when I go by myself. I get anxious and extremly nervous.

The trip started off with a huge rainstorm on Saturday June 14th. It poured rain like crazy, therefore I didn't want to park in the uncovered lots at the airport, so I resorted to parking in the Long Term parking garage which in the end cost me $90! Ouch.... My trip was delayed by 40 minutes because the break system was messed up. Um excuse me???? Guess we can fly with one good break system and one bad. We just had to get approval from FAA to fly with only one break system. NICE

Once in Las Vegas I waited forever for my luggage and then another hour to get my rental car. By the time I drove the 90 miles to Laughlin, Nevada to see my dad it was 2pm and my trip started with me getting to the airport at 6:30am!!!

So here I am after a LONG exhausting day....

When I awake I am surrounded by desert. Here is the view outside of my hotel suite at the Riverside Resort and Casino. Um ya you can tell there's not much there!!!

My trip also consisted of my dad and I going to Oatman, Arizona to see the burros. Aren't they cute?

We also made it to In-Out Burger which is my favorite hamburger joint of all time! Yummie

Because the temperature was so hot we couldn't be outside for long periods of time. Laughlin is roughly 8 to 10 degrees warmer than Las Vegas. We had to be careful when being outside for so long. We decided one afternoon to take a hike to the Grapevine Canyon to see the old Indian Petrocgliphs (perhaps I spelled this wrong). It was a nice hike but it was good to get back into the car when we were finished!!

After we took our hike we toured the Colorado River Museum in Bullhead City, Arizona. It was a cute little hole in the wall museum, full of old artifacts and history. My poor dad could hardly read the things he wanted to due to losing his eyesight because of a stroke. But he did manage and he had a nice time.

When all was said and done, I had a nice visit with my dad. It was good to see that he was okay, even though I could see what a struggle it was to function with his eyesight being so poor. I hope in time he can learn to adjust.

I lost my ass gambling...made some new friends at the casino bar...met some of my dad's friends...ate a lot of bad food....and taught my dad how to use his computer a little better.

My drive back into Las Vegas was peaceful. The mayhem started when I got lost trying to returm the rental car. A simple sign on the freeway with "Turn left here" telling me where the rental return is would have been nice. But I was early so I made my flight and even ran into a good friend who didn't know I was out of town! How funny is that? Here are some random photos on my drive back to Las Vegas on a warm Thursday afternoon.

And here is my fancy new toe ring...

And that my faithful readers is the end of my trip. I'm happy to be home where the weather is cooler and where my kitties and Lawrence can shower me with kisses. HE HE HE
