I was reminded of my mom today.

Today while checking out at the cafe for lunch I went through a line of an older woman who I see every day (well almost). And sitting upon her blouse was an angel pin, directly over her left shoulder. I smiled so big and wide and knew that mom was sending me a message. See every day my mom would wear an angel pin on her left shoulder. At my mother's calling hours and at the funeral all of us girls in the family wore an angel pin to remember my mom.

Today I can smile and know that she is watching out for me no matter how far away she is!

I would have never guessed... life could be so good. After failing at relationships, losing my mother, and losing faith in myself, I've been able to see the good in life, in people. While away on vacation LW mowed my grass without me mentioning a word about it. It's things like that, that make me realize, I deserve a happy life.

I'm finally there.

My Nevada/Arizona Trip

What a trip! The beginning was hectic, the middle was great and the end was frustrating!! ARRGGHHH I'm not a good traveler when I go by myself. I get anxious and extremly nervous.

The trip started off with a huge rainstorm on Saturday June 14th. It poured rain like crazy, therefore I didn't want to park in the uncovered lots at the airport, so I resorted to parking in the Long Term parking garage which in the end cost me $90! Ouch.... My trip was delayed by 40 minutes because the break system was messed up. Um excuse me???? Guess we can fly with one good break system and one bad. We just had to get approval from FAA to fly with only one break system. NICE

Once in Las Vegas I waited forever for my luggage and then another hour to get my rental car. By the time I drove the 90 miles to Laughlin, Nevada to see my dad it was 2pm and my trip started with me getting to the airport at 6:30am!!!

So here I am after a LONG exhausting day....

When I awake I am surrounded by desert. Here is the view outside of my hotel suite at the Riverside Resort and Casino. Um ya you can tell there's not much there!!!

My trip also consisted of my dad and I going to Oatman, Arizona to see the burros. Aren't they cute?

We also made it to In-Out Burger which is my favorite hamburger joint of all time! Yummie

Because the temperature was so hot we couldn't be outside for long periods of time. Laughlin is roughly 8 to 10 degrees warmer than Las Vegas. We had to be careful when being outside for so long. We decided one afternoon to take a hike to the Grapevine Canyon to see the old Indian Petrocgliphs (perhaps I spelled this wrong). It was a nice hike but it was good to get back into the car when we were finished!!

After we took our hike we toured the Colorado River Museum in Bullhead City, Arizona. It was a cute little hole in the wall museum, full of old artifacts and history. My poor dad could hardly read the things he wanted to due to losing his eyesight because of a stroke. But he did manage and he had a nice time.

When all was said and done, I had a nice visit with my dad. It was good to see that he was okay, even though I could see what a struggle it was to function with his eyesight being so poor. I hope in time he can learn to adjust.

I lost my ass gambling...made some new friends at the casino bar...met some of my dad's friends...ate a lot of bad food....and taught my dad how to use his computer a little better.

My drive back into Las Vegas was peaceful. The mayhem started when I got lost trying to returm the rental car. A simple sign on the freeway with "Turn left here" telling me where the rental return is would have been nice. But I was early so I made my flight and even ran into a good friend who didn't know I was out of town! How funny is that? Here are some random photos on my drive back to Las Vegas on a warm Thursday afternoon.

And here is my fancy new toe ring...

And that my faithful readers is the end of my trip. I'm happy to be home where the weather is cooler and where my kitties and Lawrence can shower me with kisses. HE HE HE

I'm off to Nevada to get some sun (and lots of it), and to visit my dad. I'll blog all about my trip when I return. I'm sure I'll have lots to talk about. :-)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Sad Sad Day

After 1pm this afternoon I will not see LW until June 20th at 1am!!! OH no!! He leaves for North Carolina tonight with his family for a retirement party for his uncle and then of course I leave Saturday morning to Nevada to visit my dad. We won't even be on the same side of the United States!! :-(

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? he he I did get him a card the other day that I will mail when I get to Nevada. It says....."Without you, I'm sad...cranky...sleepless, lonely, lost." Then you open it and it says " Sex-Deprived. Miss you." HA HA HA

I'm learning that it comes in all different

For the first time in my life I can say that I am truly happy with myself and my life. I've learned to forget about the people who have hurt me in the past. I've learned my engery is best spent enjoying my time with family and friends and the man who has put me first in his life. It's been wonderful to roll over in bed every morning and hear LW say "Good Morning Sunshine." I can't tell you how much that makes my heart pitter patter. No more grouchy moods, no more not wanting to get out of bed in the more feeling alone and feeling like a failure. I'm not saying a man has defined me, but he has opened my eyes to the person I always wanted to be.

For the first time in a long time I can say I'm who I've always dreamt I would be....nice, caring, giving, romantic, personable, loving, friendly and gracious. I can now look back and say "I'm someone I could be friends with." That takes my breath away.

JD's Graduation

James Donald Vance, III graduated on June 1st from Westfall High School and will be off to college (DeVry) in the fall. I'm so proud of him.

Here is JD with his cousins....Laura, Christy, Kendra and David

Here is JD with his Aunts and Uncle from his Mom's side (my side)....Kathy, Karen, Danica and Dannon

The only person missing is Mom, JD's grandmother. She would have been so happy to see another grandchild graduate. But I know she was looking down on him from heaven.

I love you JD! Have a great summer! Go get 'em in college!

6 Days but who's counting?

I can't wait to leave the state and head to Nevada to visit my dad. I need outta here like a rat needs a piece of food! I plan to sleep, eat, shop and visit with my dad. I'm also planning a trip to see the goats in Oatman. I love that place.

It's Friday

I'm feeling like crap...3 periods in 3 months. WTF

I wanna go home and curl up in bed with LW.

I wanna puke cause my side hurts.

It's so gorgeous out, so I read a book at lunch.

Why am I still at work?

I gave LW a garage door opener to my house. Is that serious? HA!

I turned 35.

My brother turned 34.

I'm so stoked because another Nestie (Trisha!) is pregnant.

Now that is a great end to the week!

Signed, your No More Accidental Single Girl!

Happy Birthday to ME!

I'm kind of mellow today...not sad, not happy, not mad...just mellow. It was a great feeling this morning waking up next to LW who ever so sweetly whispered happy birthday into my ear. And then he slapped the alarm clock and gave me 5 more mins of snooze time. AHHHHH

Everyone has called, sent cards, sent emails, text's been so wonderful. Still the one call I waited on, could never happen. Every year my mom would call me at work, well before 9 am and wish me a happy birthday. She never forgot, even though several times she couldn't remember how old I was!!! :-) I miss her voice.

Today for lunch I sat outside in the beautiful sunshine...ate a salad and read my book. While I was reading LW walked up to me and sat on the bench next to me and we talked and enjoyed the sunshine together. It's those little things that make me smile!

Happy Birthday to me!
